Our organization is a national social justice non-profit that cultivates a progressive, diverse and inclusive community rooted in Jewish culture. We seek a Digital Media Manager to strategically build communities through entrepreneurial and creative use of our website and social media, to grow the organization’s overall online presence. We are seeking what will essentially be an Online Community Organizer with a strong activist mindset and current experience building and engaging audiences.
The Digital Media Manager will:
— develop and implement a social media strategy that builds an online community of followers
— identify, segment and target various digital audiences in the greater progressive Jewish community
— develop and execute multiple, concurrent campaigns in Social Justice, Education, and Culture
— develop and execute a plan to grow organizational email lists and cultivate lists for different campaigns
— create and execute a plan to grow the social media presence of the organization across a range of platforms including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Tumbler, You Tube
— craft and write emails to support organizational campaigns, programs, and appeals
— develop online relationships with kindred online communities and influencers including media outlets and journalists
— identify and make recommendations for website, blog, and social media boosting and advertising
— develop an editorial calendar and appropriate content
— develop benchmarks and key measurements for social media performance and website metrics as well as timeline for monitoring and evaluation of same
— manage and update website content as needed
— develop and maintain a photo library
— be the steward of our brand and work within the tone, mission and visual identity of our brand
— oversee an intern when necessary
The successful candidate will have the following attributes/experience:
— at least 3-5 years of experience in a similar role (preferably at a non-profit)
— demonstrated passion about social justice causes
— current engagement in the Jewish progressive social justice or progressive social justice space is preferred
— proven ability to create content and leverage social media in service of campaigns for a variety of ages and audiences
— working knowledge of Adobe InDesign and WordPress
— ability to successfully promote an organization’s brand
— proficiency in analyzing website and social media metrics
— ability to analyze website and social media traffic, including creating dashboard and other measurement tools
— superior project management skills
— stellar communication skills – written as well as verbal – and interpersonal skills
The desire to actively engage in our social justice programs “on the street” and to work live events by posting in real time is essential and part of the job. You will be needed at times outside of the usual M-F work times and days.
