From Here to Halvah: Jewish Desserts of “Libe” (Love)

In Jewish culture, the way to our hearts is frequently through our bellies (boykh). Join us on Valentine’s Day and be prepared to fall in love at “From Here to Halvah: Jewish Desserts of Libe,” featuring delicious treats like babka, honey cake, rugelach, coconut macaroons, egg creams, and ka’ak at Shelsky’s of Brooklyn.
Come nosh and sip on wine and specialty cocktails while discovering the histories of modern and traditional Jewish desserts. The event will feature a discussion around Jewish stories of food and passion with Leah Koenig (author of Modern Jewish Cooking), Shannon Sarna (editor of The Nosher), Sylvia Fallas (featured chef of Kosher.com), Pete Shelsky (co-owner Shelsky’s of Brooklyn), and Devra Ferst, freelance food writer and former senior editor of tastingtable.com, who will encourage attendees to contribute their own stories to our delicious narrative.
There will also be opportunities to buy our featured chefs’ cookbooks so you can recreate the night’s desserts at home!
