Activist Spotlight: Julia Dubnoff
Hi! My name is Julia Dubnoff and I am one of the Workers Circle’s college ambassadors this year. I’m a sophomore at Brown, studying applied math and potentially literary arts. Last year, I founded a Yiddish Group on campus, and this year I have been taking it further thanks to the Workers Circle’s support!
On campus, I’m heavily involved in left-leaning Jewish secular and religious life. I’ve been working hard with like-minded peers to form spaces in which Jews on campus feel empowered to organize, practice, learn, and grow together, embodying tikkun olam and tzedek. I’ve been putting together events on Yiddish poetry and music in relation to social justice, organizing a Klezmer concert, and planning challah bakes.
Most recently, I brought friends together to phone bank with the Workers Circle for the election. We joined folks across the country to call into North Carolina, informing voters about new Voter ID policies so to get out the vote! Going forward after the election, I want to build community around me; through loving and caring for each other, my peers and I know that hope is not lost for justice and peace.
