Moore v. Harper, a case coming before the Supreme Court, threatens to give state legislatures unchecked power over elections, enabling a few politicians to subvert the will of the people.
In Moore, North Carolina lawmakers are arguing that state legislatures should not have any checks or balances on their ability to make laws about voting and elections. If adopted, state courts would be largely powerless to stop voting barriers that violate state constitutions, undermining centuries of legal tradition and rolling back voting rights advances achieved by the Civil Rights Movement and decades of expansion of the Voting Rights Act.
We can’t let this happen. On Wednesday, December 7, join the Workers Circle at a rally outside the Supreme Court in Washington, DC from 9:00am -12:00 noon, to demand accountability to the people.
