How to be an Effective Advocate

Join the Center for Common Ground and Workers Circle for the first installation of our Effective Advocate series in 2025. Each month, this three-part program will offer an update on key federal legislation, model state legislation for rights protection, and skills training on advocacy. From becoming a legislative advocate to an LTE writer to a protest organizer, these trainings will highlight important political developments and help you expand your advocacy toolbox to become the change maker you want to be!

January's training will focus on advocating for federal and state-level legislation. State legislators across the US have returned to work to pass legislation that will impact voting rights and democratic protections in your community. In Congress, federal legislators are working to pass critical legislation, such as the SAVE ACT. We will equip you with the right questions to ask about your state’s legislative process and empower you to start defending democracy on your home turf. We will also teach you how to use LTE's to get legislation passed!
