Course Goals:
LGA is a virtually unknown Yiddish encyclopedia of articles and photos about hundreds of professional, social, political, educational, artistic, cultural, sport, charitable, religious, commercial and other organizations that comprised the dynamic life of the second-largest Jewish community in Poland and Europe on the eve of the Holocaust. Of the 2,000 copies of the LGA printed in 1938, only 4 are known to have survived.


Course Tools: Students in this course will be provided with scans of selected articles to read and prepare for class discussions conducted in Yiddish.


Additional Info: This course is suitable for those who have completed Intermediate or Advanced Yiddish courses or the equivalent.
