We will read and discuss short stories, theater plays and poems by three outstanding, yet partly forgotten women writers: Yente Serdatski (1877-1962), Rokhl Brokhes (1880-1942) and Fradl Shtok (1888-1952?).


Course Goals: Get to know some Yiddish women writers by examining their works and lives. Improve comprehension skills of written texts, understand the historical context, develop vocabulary, learn how to use different research tools in order to acquire independency in studying Yiddish literature.


Course Tools: Texts provided by the instructor.


Additional Info:  This course is taught entirely in Yiddish, however difficult words/expressions/issues may be explained in other languages, if necessary.
