Monday 6:30 – 8:00 PM: Feb. 24, Mar. 3, 10, 17, 24, 31, Apr. 7, 21, 28, May 5
Course Goals: Aaron Alexander will teach a klezmer workshop focusing on modern original klezmer repertoire in a traditional style but composed since the beginning of the Klezmer Revival (usually acknowledged to begin in the mid 1970s). We'll look at some of Alexander’s favorites among quite a large body of work created in the last 50 years. Alexander teaches melodies, ornamentation, and accompaniment on fidl. Classes will focus on learning repertoire, rhythms, forms, modes, ornamentation and more.
Course Tools: Charts in proper keys will be provided as well as play-along mp3s in different tempi.
