Come explore the gems of Yiddish song — everything will be presented in accessible transliteration, and we'll work through the translations together. We'll learn songs from the recently digitized Yosl and Chana Mlotek Yiddish Song Collection at the Workers Circle (yiddishsongs.org) on a variety of themes: Yiddish "chestnuts" (the ones that everyone seems to remember from childhood), family-themed songs, lullabies, and "vocable" songs (yi-di-di, oy-oy-oy, and beyond). Suitable for all, no prior Yiddish experience necessary.
