Get into the Purim spirit and take a deep dive into the world of small-town Jewish taverns of the past! Join our friends at Taube Heritage Tours for this virtual program moderated by our CEO Ann Toback. Ann will be joined by Professor Glenn Dynner whose book Yankel's Tavern: Jews, Liquor, and Life in the Kingdom of Poland was the inspiration for this event, and by professor Adam Teller, a scholar of 17th and 18th-century European Jewish history. Taverns were often at the center of Polish-Jewish relations, with alcohol bringing the two communities together. During this program, the panel will examine the Jewish roots of liquor and the historical role of the tavern.
