Civil Rights Journey to Birmingham: The Children's March of 1963

Copy of Untitled (2).png

Together we will:

  • Learn about the Children's March, the 16th Street Baptist Church Bombing, and political movements that involved children as well as adults.

  • Hear the personal story of Janice Wesley Kelsey, one of the children involved in the march.

  • Understand important actions and movements and how they relate to each other for a greater understanding of Civil Rights History and its timeline.

  • Connect this protest to current events.

  • Celebrate that people of all ages have the power to make a difference in the world.

This program is open to all. It is designed as an important intergenerational experience for students in fifth grade and up and people of all ages. There is no cost to attend, but we welcome an $18 suggested donation that will go to strengthening our education programming.

Made possible with a grant from The Jewish Education Project® and UJA-Federation of New York.
