(New York, N.Y.)—The Workers Circle is proud to announce the launch of "Hot Democracy Summer," a groundbreaking initiative aimed at empowering voters and combating voter suppression prior to the 2024 election. As millions of registered voters across the nation face formidable barriers to casting their ballots, Hot Democracy Summer will connect with 500,000 voters in voting suppressed states prior to the 2024 general election to help them develop a voting plan.

This fall, voters in many states will face significant obstacles, including  fewer polling places, new ID requirements, voter purging, restrictions on assisting voters with their ballots (especially affecting older and disabled voters), the elimination of ballot drop boxes and attempts to restrict vote-by-mail options. By providing crucial information on when, where, and how, and what ID voters need to cast their ballots, the initiative seeks to empower individuals to break barriers to voting.

"2024 is the year of the voting plan," said Ann Toback, CEO of the Workers Circle. "In many states where elections are often decided by a mere thousands of votes, it is imperative that voters understand the obstacles they may face and have a plan in place to navigate them. Hot Democracy Summer is our response to this critical need."

As part of Hot Democracy Summer, the Workers Circle invites individuals to participate in a series of events designed to educate and mobilize communities. These events will equip voters with the knowledge and resources needed to exercise their democratic right and help others to do the same. It will provide opportunities to call on Congress to remove all of these barriers and ensure our freedom to vote by passing the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act, the Freedom to Vote Act, the Native American Voting Rights Act, and the Washington, D.C. Admission Act.

"We invite everyone to join us in the fight against voter suppression," adds Toback. "Together, we can break the barriers to voting, and ensure that every eligible voter has the opportunity to make their voice heard and shape the future of our democracy."
